Internal Medicine

Internal medicine is a broad-based specialty that has its roots in primary care and is dedicated to providing primary and specialty care to adults. Internists diagnose and manage diseases involving any of the organ systems and are specially trained to manage seriously ill patients suffering from advanced illness and/or diseases of more than one system. 


Dr. XUEMEI LI  MD, FRCPC

Dr. Li completed her internal medicine residency from the University of Calgary in 2014 and has been working as an internal medicine specialist in Calgary. She strives to help her patients maintain their health and recover from complex illnesses. Dr. Li is fluent in both English and Mandarin.


Dr. Li’s interests include complex chronic diseases, diabetes, hypertension, heart failure management, cardiovascular disease prevention, dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, gouty arthritis, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, bleeding and clotting disorder, abnormal liver enzymes and other abnormal laboratory values.


She is also interested in taking care of patients with chronic pain, undifferentiated disease, diagnostic dilemma, treatment challenges and chronic complex disease.
